Nanci is one of my mom's dearest friends from college.  They met at orientation many years ago (I won't divulge how many years ago...don't worry ladies) and have been friends ever since.  Nanci gave Adelyn an adorable outfit a few months ago and we had a little photo shoot today! Adelyn wasn't in a smiley mood but I got some cute shots none-the-less.  With the help of http://www.picnik.com/ I made this...

Nanci also visited my parents a few weeks ago and while looking at a picture of Mom from her senior prom Nanci decided she needed to be a brunette again. My mom always says, "it's hair and it grows," which translated to "I don't care if you dye my hair."  So while Mom and Dad were in Arizona Nanci did just that...dyed Pia's hair brown. Wow. {I think the only one that likes it is Nanci...}

little friends

I have good friends. I mean AMAZING friends. If you're reading this you're probably one of them!  But sometimes certain people come into your life at the right time and that was the case with LT and Ash Ash.  We were all going through some big changes, namely still being at UVa when everyone else had graduated and the beginning of our teaching careers. We were trying to make a difference, apply what we had learned, and please everyone (including some crazy mentors)! We were able to support each other and I can't tell you how much they picked me up EXACTLY when I need it. I'm beginning this post talking about friendship because that's what I hope for Adelyn, amazing friends.  Friends to drink too many apple martinis with (then take care of you!), friends to make white trash with and eat bags of it while watching American Idol, friends to drink Shiraz with (Ash have you had any since that night?!), friends that will take a European adventure with you and live to tell about it.  Friends. Amazing friends.

So with that I hope Adelyn and Mary Addison become fast friends, and I think they already have! Will they go to UVa? Will they live in old dorms like LT? Or new dorms like me?! Will they be teachers? Thankfully there is PLENTY of time for that but for now....

why?

Why is it that babies want everything they are not suppose to have? I know this is not a new phenomenon but it's more evident to me everyday. It started yesterday with the tissue paper from Pia's birthday gift.

Today I moved the dog bowls and water, problem eliminated. Then Adelyn became way too interested in the "fireplace." I say to Adelyn as she crawls in the direction of the fireplace "eh eh" and she turns around, smiles at me, and keeps moving. What a little Miss!

Mad I moved her back to her toys...imagine that!

Since I just opened the gate I still had the box waiting to go to recycling and promptly cut it open to cover the fireplace. So thank you Safely 1st for the gate and your box.

Adelyn likes to stand but hasn't consistently pulled herself up, that is until today..

I looked over and saw this...

and a few mintues later...

But my little sunshine does like to smile:)

Mary Addison graced us on July 22nd at 7 pounds 5 ounces and 20.5 inches long! Congrats LT & Jon on the newest chapter in your book!

8 months

Hard to believe little Miss Adelyn is 8 months old! Some of her favorite things:

• crawling!
• sucking her thumb (either one) when she's tired
• playing with her toy phone
• going for walks in her trike or in the nice cushy stroller Grandma just bought her
• splashing in the tub or pool
• dancing
• reading (although we don't get through quite as many books as we did proior to rolling and now crawling...)

After lunch with LT (who might I add looks wonderful and is due any minute!)
