memorial day weekend

What an awesome weekend, all the fun makes me SO excited for summer! We started the weekend off relaxing with our neighbors, letting the girls play and letting the adults enjoy a beverage (or a few)!  Saturday we headed to the Reston Zoo...what a hidden gem!  We thought it was quite the bang for your buck - tons of animals, "horsey" rides, ride through the open animal park, paddle boats, etc.  As you can see Adelyn LOVED it:)

That evening we enjoyed seeing everyone at Aunt Lucy's annual Memorial Day BBQ and we got to meet the adorable new puppy SOFIE!

Sunday Pia and Pops babysat while Mommy and Daddy went for a ride and hit a few new wineries:)  868 was only a week old but Brandon's friend pours there so we had a nice treat!  We really enjoyed North Gate Winery in Purcellville. The tasting room was beautiful and the weather allowed us to enjoy the scenery. (A big thanks again Pia & Pops!)

All in all another eventful and most importantly FUN weekend! Looking forward to many more:)

18 months

It is SO hard to believe that Adelyn is 18 months old! She is talking up a storm, her language of course. She loves talking about animals (and making the sounds), Elmo, "pretty pretty pretty" (her jewelry), and going outside.  She had a great check-up - 32.5 inches long (75%), 24 pounds 5.5 ounces (50%), and 19 inch head circumference (90%).  Growing like a weed and we couldn't be more in love:)

Mother's Day

Brandon made Mother's Day super special but I wouldn't have a Mother's day if it weren't for my pumpkin...

Pia and Pops use Adelyn's half birthday as an excuse to buy her fun summer toys, last year was a baby pool and tube for the pool. This year a sand and water table, swimmies, and high heels to dress up in:)

We had another great spring weekend in Virginia! We took advantage of the nice weather, live music, and a gift certificate (thanks Nay Nay!) and headed out to Notaviva.  For those of you who haven't been GO!  The owner is a Park View grad and was on the DIY show Dream House.  I had been once before in a snowstorm so it was nice to go back and enjoy the scenery.  Brandon hadn't been so of course we had to do a tasting and settled on the Chardonay, Calor. Outside we ate some yummy snacks, watched the chickens, listened to the music, and swatted away the gnats...the only downside of the afternoon. Crossing our fingers we've got a few more nice weekends ahead of us!

Adelyn also enjoyed some yummy corn on the cob:)

dinner with daddy

It was always a rule in our house that even if my mom and I ate dinner early we sat with dad while he ate if he got home late from practice, lifting, or another event.  I'm sure at times I was frustrated but I definitely see the value in it now that I have a family of my own:)  So this was our daddy dinner last night because he's been working late on a big job.

As you can see not so much eating and catching up going on!

Spring Break!

I am so lucky to have a spring break BUT (there's always a but right) I could have used another day or two. I am so looking forward to the summer* after spending a week with my little munchkin!  We just stayed around here and did a lot of things around the house, got to sneak in a picnic with Daddy, dyed Easter eggs, spent lots of time walking and going to the park, figuring out the new schedule, and spent time with family and friends.  Adelyn made a few changes over the break, she got a new car seat (thanks Pia & Pops) and we went to one nap (yikes for Mommy!).  She's also getting 2 more teeth...finally!  We'll be up to a big ol' 6 when these two come in....

Few notes from the week:

- Adelyn would much rather have broccoli, green beans, or avocado than pretty much anything else

- raisins are her "candy" and she loves them

- she is in love with "Emo" and every character on Sesame Street is "Emo"

- she loves to brush her teeth after her bath

- Mommy & Daddy were SO happy to put away the singing chic and bunny (thanks to Nay & Grandma) because Adelyn LOVED pushing the buttons every second she could

- Adelyn is her own little personality...doing 'eh' and pulling away when she doesn't want you too close or you to take her things

- We think she is absoultely amazing (of course) and are constantly amazed by the things she knows, the directions she can follow, and the words she is learning!
